Route of the Run

IT'S time to run again this summer. Beautiful West Ham Park is located in the Olympic host borough in east London which is the venue of the City of London West Ham Park Run Summer Series 2010. Length of the running route is 5Km, measured by UKA certified course measurer. Run will begin from East Lodge located next to the main entrance ( Upton Lane) of the park and finish line is located next to the parks and gardens division office. (see map) .Run route have total 3 laps out of which 2 laps are of 1.90km and third and final lap is 1.20km to make complete 5km.  Runners will mainly run on tarmac road of the park but at some turns are through grass. Run route will be marked with directional Signages and Kilo meters markers. Volunteers will be there to guide you during your run.

Age Groups

WHPR2010 is open to all runners above age 10 years. There are total six age groups i.e. Boys under 15 years , Girls under 15 years , Men, Women, Men 40+ and Women 35+.

Scoring

Top 10 finishers of each Sunday run in each age group will be awarded points in the following order:
1st Place:  10 points
2nd Place:  9 points
3rd Place:  8 points
4th Place:  7 points
5th Place:  6 points
6th Place:  5 points
7th Place:  4 points
8th Place:  3 points
9th Place:  2 points
10th Place:1 points

First place winner of each Sunday Run will receive awards/coupons/gifts.

Overall winner of each age group will be decided on the basis of highest points scored during the entire series.

Safety 

We wish you to enjoy beauty of West Ham Park during your run however we want to make sure you is as safe as possible. Please note following instructions 

  • This is a free running event, so all run and attend at their own risk.

  • In case of extreme weather conditions run may be cancelled 

  • Please be considerate to the park and other park users at all times

  • Please arrive by foot, by pedal-power or by public transport if you can - your efforts help to reduce our impact on the park and the planet.

  • If you’re driving to the run, please drive carefully even if you’re late!

  • Please make sure you’re fit enough to run 5k (3.1 miles) – if you’re in any doubt, please consult your doctor.

  • Please ensure you have taken sufficient fluid intake before setting off for a run.

  • Please ensure you have adequate running shoes. 

  • Please wear appropriate clothing suitable for cold, wet and windy conditions. 

  • Remember to warm up before the run.

  • When running, take care on uneven surfaces - whether on grass or on tarmac. Watch out for other runners, pedestrians, children, dogs, park staff vehicles, park maintenance work, falling branches, bollards, posts and other obstacles around the course.

  • If you see a runner with a serious problem, please stop to help them out and get help as soon as possible.

  • If you’re watching, keep clear of runners on the course, and look after any children and dogs you may have with you.

  • Please consider volunteering to help occasionally - this event survives only because of your generosity - please email us if you wish to volunteer.

  • We hope these tips help to ensure that West Ham Park Summer Run is fun and safe for everyone.

Facilities

  • Public Toilets are available at Park Office

  • Basic First aid kit is also available at Park Office

  • Please familiarise yourself with the Course Safety notes, and listen at the pre-run briefing for any special notes.

  • Marshals are there to assist to you, they will be easily identifiable as they will be wearing hi-viz waistcoats.

  • Every finisher will get free water. Water station is located next to the finish line. 

  • No storage facilities are available at present, so please come dressed to run the event.

  • There is parking space located next to main entrance on Upton lane road. Vehicles including cycle is  NOT allowed to enter park.
